Barbara A. Trautlein, PhD
Dr. Barbara A. Trautlein is a seasoned consultant specializing in the development and coaching of leaders at all levels. Her approach combines a highly client-centered, relationship-oriented style with a business-like, action-oriented focus. She is a leadership researcher, published author and engaging speaker, invited to make presentations and conduct workshops not only in North America but also in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Dr. Trautlein has significant experience coaching leaders from the front line to the C-suite and in various functional disciplines and industries. She holds a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan’s Organizational Psychology Program and is highly skilled and experienced in a variety of individual/team/organizational assessment tools.

- Conducted developmental assessments and coaching services for high potential manager and director-level candidates in a healthcare insurance firm, nuclear power firm, and utility company.
- Trained and coached the entire management staff of a start-up firm over a multi-year period to build their leadership skills to foster a work culture of excellence, teamwork, and high performance.
- Conducted coaching training for audiences spanning from lead hourly personnel to lead engineers to human resource professionals to senior executive teams.
- Designed and implemented innovative mentoring systems at several client firms, including for non-traditional groups; conducted mentor training to support new mentoring processes.
- Created and conducted extensive management development programs on topics ranging from personal leadership styles, to change management, to handling resistance, to conflict resolution, to coaching and delegation, to facilitation skills, to diversity and inclusion, to employee engagement.

- Investigated dyadic, intra-team and inter-team problematic interpersonal situations, providing coaching, counseling and team-building to reach mutually satisfying solutions.
- Integrated human resource systems such as selection, assessment, development, and succession planning as well as facilitated strategic change management initiatives, through processes ranging from implementing talent management software to developing and installing competency models. Created and implemented innovative performance management and compensation systems, including 360-degree/peer review assessments and skill-based pay/pay-for-knowledge plans.
